Wiesław Jerzy Johann - lawyer, journalist, academic teacher, retired judge of the Constitutional Tribunal, Vice-Chairman of the National Council of the Judiciary.

Born on 9 September 1939 r. in Oszmiana.

Graduate of the Faculty of law of the University of Warsaw (1964). After prosecutorial training, he worked as a solicitor. Between 1973-81 he was a journalist of Polish Radio. From 1982, as an attorney, he was defender in (a.o.) numerous political trials. 

From 1990, he served in several public functions, for example as representative of the Government for the liquidation of the Authority of Control of Publication and Performances (censorship office) and also as a Chairman of the Collection Commission for the return of the assets of the trade unions and social organisations. Between 1997-2006, judge of the Constitutional Tribunal.

Member of the National Council of the Judiciary from 30 September 2015 (appointed by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda as his representative), from 27 April 2018 Vice-Chairman of the National Council of the Judiciary. 

Academic lecturer, author of numerous legal publications.

In 2008, awarded by President Lech Kaczynski, with the Commander's Cross with Star of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland. In 2017 he received the title of an honorary citizen of the City of Warsaw.
